Wilmington, NC native Herman “Pop” Summerlin began learning his gardening knowledge from his father, Herman Summerlin, Sr. as a young boy. You won’t find any large, commercial heavy machinery at Pop’s garden– the “hands on” method of using an old fashioned plow and garden hoe suits him just fine. Pop’s vegetables begin as tiny seeds and he enjoys watching them grow into healthy, vegetable producing plants. On any given day, you will find Pop out in the garden carrying on the same family gardening traditions that his father started back in the early 1900’s.
